THE BUYING GUIDE

Make the existing cable work for the right image.

HDCVI cameras are an option for video systems built around coaxial cabling and compatible recorders. Before changing a camera, check the recorder input formats and supported resolution as well as the cable condition and power arrangement. A connector that fits is not enough to establish that a camera and recorder support the same video mode.

Start with the application.

Describe the job, the installation environment and the equipment already on site. Compare the exact model specifications before choosing; a collection name alone does not establish compatibility or included features.

Start with the details that affect your installation.

01 / SIGNAL

Format & resolution

Match the camera output mode and resolution to the recorder input specifications.

02 / SCENE

Lens & lighting

Choose the view, day/night illumination and backlight handling for the actual scene.

03 / CABLING

Cable condition & route

Review existing cable, connectors, joins and installation distances against the equipment documentation.

04 / POWER

Supply & optional features

Confirm power requirements and any model-specific audio or control functions. Do not assume power over coax is available.

A few useful answers.

Can I connect an HDCVI camera directly to an NVR?

A standard IP NVR does not turn a coax video signal into an IP stream. Confirm the appropriate recorder or supported conversion equipment.

Will a newer camera work with my old DVR?

Compare supported video formats, resolution and frame rates on both devices before ordering.

Can I reuse existing coax?

Check the cable type, condition, joins and route against the selected equipment requirements.

Do camera imaging guides apply to every model?

The planning principles can help, but controls and supported functions must be checked in the exact HDCVI camera manual.
